Feature Story: Clothing Brand – AIKIG

All About The Brand: AIKIG

I am delighted to introduce a new brand to you all called AIKIG aka ‘All I Know Is Goon‘! AIKIG has four masterminds behind it and I am happy to say that I went to high school with one of them, John L! I always admired his tees in class so I’m honestly not surprised that he created a business out of it.

I am so happy for this group and all that they have and will accomplish in the near future. I got the chance to send over a few questions to get some info on the brand, how it came about, and the guys behind it! Read all about it below 🙂

1. What was your inspiration for starting a line?

– Being around skateboarding and graffiti for a majority of our lives.

2. When did you start your line?

-2010 is when we had the idea, but 2012 is when our first shirts were actually printed.

3. What is the inspiration behind your line/what inspired you to start your line?

– The lifestyle that we lived through skateboarding and graffiti inspired us. We also got tired of all the trendy clothing. Everything looked the same to us and we just wanted to start representing ourselves with our own artwork.

4. What do you sell?

– Clothing and accessories. Right now we just sell our art on T-shirts and are in the midst of making new clothing. We’re coming out with bucket hats this summer.

5. What is your mission and overall message that you’re trying to say within the style of your clothing?

– To let loose and be yourself. Besides just spreading a message through our clothing, most of our message is in our skate videos. What we really want to do is help keep skateboarding alive…We urge kids to get out there and DO SOMETHING.

6. Tell me about yourself and your partners.

– AIKIG is ran by 4 people: JohnL, Lance, Suave and AZER. While Suave and AZER provide the art, JohnL and Lance are the brains behind the business. JohnL also produces most of the content for AIKIG (photos/videos/website layout). We’re just a normal group of friends who see the world a little differently.

7. Where do you see your brand in two years?

-Still doing our thing, but with a much higher demand of sales. We want to flood the skateboarding industry and land ourselves on racks at every skateshop possible. We want every little kid that looks up to us, to have our logo drawn on their notebook or bookbag. We don’t want to become sell-outs though…that’s how brands and movements end. We want to be on the scene for years to come.

8. Any upcoming sales, events, or big moves that we should know about?

– Our bucket hats and a lot of new clothing is coming out this summer. One of the things we are hyped about the most is our first volume of our film series, “CookLife”, which came out in June. It’s a skate video with some skits and other crazy things we filmed while out on the streets. Nobody is ready for it hahaha.

9. If you had to describe your clothing using only 8 words, what would you say?

– Cooler than what you are wearing right now.

10. Would you like to expand your brand? If so, give us a hint of what you have in the works..

– Hell yeah. We want to be internationally known. We are constantly filming for the CookLife series and we eventually want to be making money off of those videos.

11. Who do you think would be most interested in your clothing? Tell us why you think so..

-People who live the same lifestyle as us because they will understand it. Skateboarding and graffiti both have bad names to the people who aren’t even involved with them. Most people would probably thing we are a bunch of hoodlums or something, when in fact, our brand is much more than that.
