Review: My Colored World by Jessica Janniere

Hi, all! I hope that everyone is keeping warm in this cold weather. I’m so delighted to share my review of the memoir ‘My Colored World‘ by Jessica Janniere. If the last name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because it’s mine! Yes, she is my aunt and I’m very proud of all that she has put into and shared this memoir. Dive into my review below.

After countless conversations I’ve always felt that she is a very deep person. Jessica is not shy in sharing her story and lessons that she has learned along the journey that is life. Through her trials and tribulations she has grown to be a better woman, a better mother, a better friend, etc.

If you know her, or you know of her she serves as a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration. In reading the book, it took me back and helped me to understand the person that is standing before me.

When you look at Jessica you would never know that she has been through all of what she has been through as she is always one to look at the brighter things in life, and is always the first to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Those were all of the things that seemed to be absent in her family life growing up, but were shown to her through strangers at that time. That is why she has no problem embracing those that she meets along the way on her journey through life.

This read was very interesting and it really is like reading a book backwards as I know her in real life. It helped me further understand her and admire her strength. She doesn’t let her past define her future, and she hasn’t let the bad people that she has come across in life that have treated her horribly ruin it for the next person. If there is a need for a word of encouragement you can count on her to say it. If there is a hand reaching out for help you can count of her to grab it. She is a beautiful person, inside and out.

I don’t want to give any spoilers as far as the book is concerned because I honestly hate when people give away the whole story, lol. The book speaks for itself. It is a good read, as well as an easy read. I finished the book in 1 day. I took it on the train with me to class, read it in bed and when I flipped to the last page I was delighted that I got the chance to read it but I was so disappointed that it was over! You will not be able to put it down.

This is the story of her life, and she is the best example of the phrase ‘do not judge a book by its cover’ because I can guarantee you that your jaw will drop when reading page after page. You may find inspiration as she takes you through her spiritual journey in finding and understanding God. Though her life was very hard she also proves that there may be a happily ever after for everyone! Now Jessica is married with three fantastic children (who just happen to be my cousins ;)) and a great and supportive husband (who just happens to be my uncle). Dive into this book because I can guarantee you that once you read the first page you will not want to come up for air until its over.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I love you and as always I’m very proud of you.
