Why I’m Just Loving DVF!

Besides changing the Fashion Industry by making every woman’s life easier and way more fabulous by creating the coveted wrap dress 40 years ago, DVF has made her mark in the reality tv world. I have always had the up-most respect for DVF but I must say it was a joy seeing her in action on her reality show, House of DVF

She refers to her show as a program, not a competition which earned points in my book. I always watch these competition based shows in Fashion and shake my head simply because some producers literally set traps and have women looking stupid on television. If it’s a task to be completed they usually have them running in heels to get it done, and only place a small supply of product on the table so that they’re fighting over it.

It usually just involves a lot of drama. There is more focus on having women fight, because they sequester them in a house all together and set traps for them to fight, zeroing in on DRAMA.  It’s barely ever about talent.

So, I must say that I tip my glittered hat to Ms. Diane simply because she treated her staff and contestants like the grown women that they are and never once tried to take advantage of them. She did not exploit anyone and the focus was really on who would make the best brand ambassador. That is wonderful. It gives women a chance to showcase their talents, chase their dream, etc.

I also have to say that I was surprised that she chose a girl of color the first time out. Brittany Hampton was most qualified to me but most brands are very hesitant on making a black person the face of their brand. For some reason they think that it will shoo away their other customers and classify their brand as an urban brand – not a high end brand. Crazy right? Well it’s true. However, Diane chose who she thought was best for her brand and most qualified to be the Brand Ambassador for DVF despite their ethnicity and for that I have much say that I’m loving DVF even more than before (if that is even possible, lol).

Until Next Time! xo
