 Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13

Hi everyone! Let’s get right into it, today I’ll be discussing the Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13. I was given this computer by Lenovo to review a few months ago, and it’s been my sidekick ever since. Unfortunately, now it is time that I part with my sidekick but after spending months together I believe that I can finally give a detailed review of this laptop.

The Yoga 13 is a convertible touch screen Windows 8 laptop/tablet, with a 360 flip and fold design. ‘Bend it like Beckham’ is an understatement. This laptop can be be a laptop when you want, it can transform to a tablet, and then you can bend it backwards and lay it flat or sit it up like a tent using the touch screen that way. It’s extremely versatile and in my opinion, it can suit the needs of almost anyone.

This laptop has a 13 inch screen, it’s very beautiful. The inside of the Yoga 13 is black, but as far as the outside goes, you can pick from silver to a bronze. Both options look nice to me, but I went with the Silver (of course). The outside of the laptop is super soft, also, no finger print problems over here! This is actually the lightest laptop that I have ever had in my possession. (It weighs 1.54kg / 3.40lbs). I was able to take this baby with me to Fashion Week with no problem. I have taken it everywhere and not once has it bogged down my bag. It is extremely slim and sleek, not bulky at all.

My laptop before this was a dinosaur, so I was extremely excited when I was introduced to touch screen option with the Lenovo Ideapad. My eyes increased in size every time I touched the screen for the first couple of days! It’s an amazing option, and if your laptop isn’t touch screen, you have no idea what you’re missing!!

Apps. Boy does this laptop come with apps. I didn’t fall in love with the fun apps until about 3 months ago; because of the time that I received the laptop, I was extremely busy with proposals and write-ups so all I used as far as apps go were the Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Power Point. When I finally got out of work mode, I was able to have some fun! You have an array of apps to choose from.. i.e. a music app that is out of this world.

Did you ever have a project due and you want to listen to music on your laptop without headphones but you do not feel like going to Youtube and constantly changing the songs after they are over? With this music app you can buy music, play your music that is stored on your laptop, use the radio function that plays songs based on the artist you like, or you can play songs off of every artist you can think of’s album!! That was a mouth full, wasn’t it? Lol!! I love this app, it has to be my new found favorite.

You can Skype with the Skype app, play games with the game app, A wonderful camera app, and many many more apps to choose from. As soon as you start up the laptop you are on the Windows 8 screen and your choices are endless as far as apps go!!

Tablet. As a tablet, the laptop transforms very easily in a 1, 2, 3, type of method. I was amazed with the tablet option when I first received the laptop, and tested it out in that mode. The screen is a bit too big in that mode to constantly be holding it to use it as a tablet, in my opinion. I more-so enjoyed it as a laptop or when I bent it at 180 to watch television or movies. As a tablet, it is okay but magically heavy all of a sudden. If you don’t mind placing t flat on the table and using it that way, then you may like this mode. If not, I find it to be a bit heavy as a tablet, which is odd because it’s light as a feather as  a laptop.

Now, I’m reviewing this laptop from the angle of a Blogger, Student, Fashion Designer, and Gamer. As a blogger, I can fully recommend this laptop to other bloggers. In a APPLE/MAC World, this Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 will hold it’s own without even breaking a sweat.

The laptop keyboard is great. It has an ‘Accutype’ keyboard, with individual rounded keys which are perfect for easy/accurate typing. Battery life, long long long lasting battery life. I cannot stress that enough seeing as though I do so much on this laptop and it doesn’t need to be charged every 5 seconds.

As a blogger, we take a TON of photos. I will take 20 photos of something and only use 6 out of the 20. We also store our write-ups on our laptops in word or WordPad for safekeeping. That takes up so much memory. Countless Favorited tabs online, and as I stated above, endless photos. Once again, that take takes up soooo much memory. We need machines that will take any and everything that we throw at it, and this laptop has stood through the storm of 3 New York Fashion Week seasons + countless events/write-ups. We have to take our laptops everywhere, and since this laptop is as light as a feather, it is perfect. The tablet & tent mode is perfect for watching live conferences, shows that we weren’t in attendance at,  etc. It has earned a gold star from a Blogger’s stand point.

From a Fashion Designer’s & Student’s stand point, I can definitely recommend this laptop! We have to edit our sketches in Photoshop, there is enough memory for you to do so. Do you write as many proposals/proposal responses in Word as I do? You’ve met your match! We also scan our designs on the computer so that we can send them out, so if you do that as well then you’ll like this computer; especially with the email app.. it’s heaven sent. As a fashion design student, it is PERFECT.

As a Gamer.. I am an avid Sims addict. I have been playing since I was about 8 or 9 years old, I just turned 21 2 months ago and I have realized that this is one addiction that I’ll never kick! Who said I wanted to anyway? So, since I wasn’t using my other laptop because I was reviewing this one, I was bummed because during my downtime I would sometimes play The Sims. I thought to try to install The Sims on Origin on here and I was so surprised when it played so effortlessly. The graphics were amazing, no lagging at all. I mentally added another pro to this laptop. I went a little crazy during an origin sale and bought 6 more games. I shook my head at my addiction lol, and my jaw dropped when the laptop seriously could handle all of those expansion packs!! It took all that I threw at it with no issue, didn’t even break a sweat!!!! If you like to work hard and play hard, I would recommend this laptop because it can definitely handle it (depending on the game).
