The app focuses on the world of nail polish—and I do mean world. As anyone who’s seen the giant wall of polish options at a Jinsoon Hand & Foot Spa knows, finding drugstore versions of pricier polishes from brands like Chanel, Tom Ford, M.A.C., and Yves Saint Laurent is a daunting prospect. But with this app, a free download (yay!) and a few quick swipes are all it takes to get access to tons of polish matchups. Just choose from the list of luxury brands and select the shade you’re looking for and the app shows you the closest drugstore-brand match.
The team behind SuperDuper has personally tested every single polish extensively to find the best matches. First, they painted every potential pairing on their own, real-world, human nails. Then they checked the shades in multiple lights, both artificial and natural. And because if #TheDress taught us anything, it’s that vision is weird and nothing about the way we see colors is reliable, the entire SuperDuper team had to be in agreement in order to consider the shades a true match. Right now the app has 138 drugstore shades that they consider dupes for 83 luxury-brand polishes, and they’re constantly working on adding more.
