FOX TV Show: STAR by Lee Daniels

Hi, all!

Have you tuned in to FOX to watch STAR by Lee Daniels?! I have been watching since the pilot premiered in December and I must say that while there have been one or two things that I would love to be changed, I really like the show.

Now, I love Quincy Brown so that is one of the main reasons for me tuning in (let me just throw that out there, lol) but everyone else, including Quincy, have kept me loyal to the show every Wednesday at 9 PM. Quincy is doing a great job, he looks good as well.

I cannot stand musicals, I really have to be in the mood to watch a musical so when the first two episodes came on I wasn’t sure if I was going to continue to watch the show. The transition from conversation to singing was not smooth and that turned me off at  first. In one of the episodes they were literally just having a conversation in Star’s bedroom and then a second later they were breaking it down in short shorts and cowboy boots singing a country song. Needless to say, I was very confused.

Now as this week will make the 4th episode (I believe), we have gotten to know the characters more and the transition into song isn’t as abrupt as when the show first started. Some aspects of the show are very dramatic and I wish the writers would tone it down a bit or be a little less predictable but I still like the show.

Star, the main character is very interesting to watch. She is determined to make it to the top and she doesn’t mind stealing, killing or sleeping her way there. She practically almost slept with her group mate’s father. Star is the blonde on the left in the photo above.

Her sister, on the far right, is quite a character as well. They have deemed her as crazy and absent minded however she is just suffering the after-effects of abuse that she went through before her sister broke her out of her foster family’s house. I won’t spoil her story for you, you’ll have to tune in to learn the rest.

Ryan Destiny is so gorgeous, she is in the center of the photo. I just stare at her every Wednesday when she graces the screen. I was familiar with her from her work in the film A Girl like Grace. This shows her in a different and more vocal light. Her character has a little something something with Quincy Brown, his character’s name is Derek. Together they are very cute and their scenes are sweet. Her parents are Naomi Campbell and Lenny Kravitz.

Tune in on Wednesdays and watch for yourself!
