Nolcha Fashion Week

Fall/Winter 2013

On Wednesday, February 13, Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Fall/Winter 2013 presented by RUSK held their runway shows at Pier 59. The day-long event featured 3 runway shows, and 13 designers. Now in its sixth year, Nolcha is one of New York’s leading platforms for independent global fashion designers. The brands who presented yesterday were global in scope including designers based out of China, Sweden, The UK, Brazil, and across the U.S.

Nolcha Fashion Week is a great platform for independent fashion designers. I always enjoy Nolcha Fashion Week and I am very honored to get the opportunity to cover it during fashion week, thank you very much for the invitation.

I have picked out a few collections to speak about, their collections will be following this post. Below, I have included coverage of the Fashion Media Lounge that Nolcha held at the Yotel. It was a blast! xo

H.E Organics

The Nolcha Media Fashion Lounge was a great event which was perfect for networking. I met a really nice designer, Heather Murphy.  She was a full-time executive in the pharmaceutical industry and was raising three boys. Her middle son developed allergies and eczema.. she searched for a solution for her son and ended up using her background, education, and experience to ignite the R&D behind his health issues.

Heather’s son’s condition ignited her passion to create a clothing line that was comfy, stylish and that was also good for the environment. She hopes that consumers will be inspired to wear eco-conscious fashion. H.E. Organics is the name of her line and I believe that everyone should look into her collection. She has a wonderful reasoning behind creating her collection, and an even more wonderful reason to continue it because it’s great for the environment.

I really enjoyed speaking with you Ms. Murphy and I wish you nothing but success!

Jess Rizzuti

A hand bag designer, Jess Rizzuti developed her initial bags by hand and went on to have her first bag manufactured in 2008. She launched her first collection in 2009 encompassing rich materials, luxe styles, and details both inside and out. I really like that her bags have detail inside,. Jess earned a nomination two years in a row for her creations in cork as Best Green Handbag in the Independent Handbag Designer Awards sponsored by InStyle. Her bags are eco friendly.

Rizzuti’s bags range from eco-friendly clutches created from wood cork to everyday polished leather satchels — which are fabulous.

Jess Rizzuti’s bags can be found in boutiques nationwide as well as online www.jessrizzuti.com
