Brotherly Love NYC Screening and Movie Review

Hi, all!

Today I have to tell you all about yesterday’s Brotherly Love NYC Screening and share my thoughts on this movie as well. I’ve been anticipating this movie, Brotherly Love since last year as I follow a lot of the castmates like Keke Palmer, Quincy, etc. They all looked like they were having a ball while filming the movie  as they were always posting photos on set and as time went by I saw more information released on the basis of the movie I was even more excited to see it! Now, the movie is coming out on Friday, April 24th and I must say that the movie lived up to the hype and thensome!

When I tell you that this movie is so good I truly do mean it. The film surprisngly took only 21 days to film but writer and director Jamal Hill shopped it around for 10 years, and Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit picked it up. (Charlie Mack is one of the producers as well and Charlie is also the manager to Yazz The Greatest.)

You’ll go through a wave of emotions while watching it and the ending will leave you shocked.

“Brotherly Love” takes place in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Money, drugs, violence ends of being the root of where all of the problems start in the movie. There is a division in the neighborhood because of all of this. When watching promotional interviews of the castmates speaking about the movie I remember them stating that ‘everyone has choices in life and in this movie you see how the effect of this choice could come full circle.

While viewing the movie you will see some of your usual favorites, some new faces and also some great people you didn’t expect to see. Everyone’s talents fused together in such a great way.

I have to say that Quincy Brown is an amazing actor. He dominated the screen. I can truly see him going quite far with acting after seeing him play this role. Though I never doubted him, he even exceeded my hopes for him in this movie which were pretty high lol. His chemistry with Keke Palmer was undeniable and had everyone in the theater constantly ‘awing’ as you truly couldn’t help yourself. I don’t want to spoil anything as far as his character goes but Quincy really did his thing.

Keke Palmer did a phenomenal job as usual. Every role she gets she hits out of the park.

Julito McCullum did his thing as well, you may be familar with him from The Wire. Hats off to my fellow Panamanian!

Cory Hardtrict also did an outstanding job as big brother June. I never saw Cory in a ‘gangsta’ light or lack of a better word but he really sold it. I’ve always known him to be really talented as I have watched some of his other movies but I loved the part that he played in this movie. June is the glue to the whole family and their bond heartwarming.

Speaking of the whole family, how could I forget to mention Macy Gray? When everyone say her on the screen they got excited and we all were quite entertained by her character. She played it well, and the scene with her and Cory was quite touching.

Eric D. Hill Jr. was one of the breakout stars as well, and he did a wonderful job!

Romeo is a fool lol, don’t crack up too much when you see him. I love Logan Browning from her previous projects, and she looked gorgeous on screen as usual! Her antics were hilarious as well.

It was very nice to meet some of the cast members. They were all so nice, welcoming and approachable.

I’m going to go watch it again on Friday when it comes out as I inhaled it the first time (lol), so I need to go see it again. We all need to go out and support this film so that we can see many films like it in the theaters!

Brotherly Love in theaters on Friday, April 24th.
